About Acorn Country Homes
Acorn Country Homes is a Bespoke building company with its roots firmly attached to classically designed homes. We are drawn to the timeless style of the Arts and Crafts era bungalow’s and to the fresh Modern Country style of New England and Hampton Style Homes in the USA.
We are based on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, and provide building services to Melbourne’s South Eastern Suburbs, and the peninsula.
Acorn Country Homes was founded by Steve Magliano 20 years ago. We have been constructing and renovating quality homes and dedicate ourselves to sourcing and providing a personal building experience.
During this time, we have been asked on a regular basis about design & construction from brand new homes to ideas to make better use of the current floorplan of their existing homes, including a first floor and ground floor additions, new bathrooms, mudrooms and beautifully functional kitchens.
We spend considerable time with our clients to ensure that the finished product is not only beautiful but both functional and of the highest quality with our client’s budget.
We like to think that as your builder we are also a sounding board to help incorporate your ideas and desires into your design.

Our Services
New Home Build and Additions
We offer a complete Design and Build package. We use Imaginative and Creative architectural designers to help turn your dream home into reality.
We find that one of the biggest issues within our industry is that the communications between the builder, homeowner and architectural designers are often inconsistent when each of these stages are completed independent of the other.
We want to turn your dreams into a reality but if the design of the home is not within the budget scope allowed for the project, rarely do these projects get built.
We work to ensure that what we design fits the budget set out at the start of the project.
Alterations
We will assist with the simplest of work from removing walls to open up living spaces to establishing butler’s pantries and mud rooms within existing home footprints.
Bathrooms and Kitchens
Bringing bathrooms and kitchens to life through the simplicity of an uncluttered modern country aesthetic to a high-end Hamptons style design is one of our speciality areas. We can assist with the full design and layout as well as appliance and sanitary ware choices.
We can construct detailed joinery to either be factory or hand painted and help to make the selection of natural or made made stone top finishes. We will assist with lighting design and purchase.
Architectural Joinery
Our architectural joinery is designed and made with care from simple shaker design to, fully detailed French provincial bookcases, library design or dressing rooms and your dream wardrobe in your master suite. We have the use of some of the best interior designers that will assist with hard surfaces, soft finishes and colour choices.
Our Process
The first consultation
Your first consultation is complimentary, we aim to gain an idea of your vision and discuss with you what you would like to achieve such as a Hamptons or modern country/coastal design. We can help to formulate a budget to work within and we will be able to gather information about what permits will be required for your project.
The second consultation
We will provide you with a design and development agreement, this will outline all the costs involved in the pre building stage from architectural plans, engineering, soil testing, bush fire management and energy reports and any other specialist services such as landscape design and/or interior design that you may wish to use.
Stage 3 : Contract preparation
From the plans that have been provided, we are able to formulate a contract price. We will begin to prepare your contract, all the plans are confirmed and town planning permits (if required) are obtained, we will forward you a building contract for your review.
Stage 4: The build
Once contracts are signed, we will book start dates and we will commence the start of your project. Sight meetings and communications will be ongoing until the completion of the project.
Stage 5: the handover
Once the project is complete, we will walk through the project with you, ensuring the project is complete to our high-end quality control standards. All final certificates will be issued at this stage. Rest assured, our commitment to our clients does not end at this stage, we are always available for further renovations, consultations and enquires.
